English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU)
Committed to excellence in English language education since 1990.
Our History & Timeline
The English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) was founded in 1990 with the mission to enhance English language proficiency across academic disciplines. It began as a small department focused on providing foundational language skills to undergraduate students.
Over the years, ELTU expanded its reach, adopting innovative teaching methodologies and integrating technology to improve learning outcomes. By 2005, digital classrooms with multimedia and online learning tools became a cornerstone of our curriculum, enabling a more interactive and engaging experience.
In 2010, ELTU revamped its curriculum to introduce English for Academic Purposes (EAP) modules, aligning with international standards and addressing the needs of students aiming for global academic opportunities. This shift marked a pivotal moment in elevating the unit’s academic rigor.
The challenges of the 2020 pandemic accelerated ELTU’s adoption of hybrid learning models. Our educators quickly adapted to online teaching, using webinars, virtual classrooms, and digital assessments to ensure continuity of education without compromising quality.
Today, in 2025, ELTU continues to innovate by collaborating with global educational institutions, enhancing interdisciplinary modules, and focusing on professional development for teachers. Our commitment remains steadfast: empowering students with strong English communication skills for academic and professional success worldwide.
