The Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Management of University of Peradeniya, conducted “Mercadeo” the Marketing Day 2024, on December 18th. The event, themed “Digital Marketing for Humanity,” took place at the faculty auditorium from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and was organized by the 2021 batch of the Department of Marketing Management.
The day commenced with a keynote speech by Mr. Dilshan Perera, Chief Information Officer at HNB General Insurance Ltd. He shared valuable insights on the evolving landscape of digital marketing and its impact on the broader society. Following the keynote, a panel discussion featured esteemed entrepreneurs and professionals, including Mr. Sagara Ranga Liyanage (Managing Director of Earth-Bound Creations (Pvt) Ltd), Mrs. Nayana Damayanthi (District Coordinator of the National Enterprise Development Authority, District Secretariat, Kandy) and Mr. Nithya Silva (Founder and CEO of The Marketing Agency).
The audience consists of student in the Faculty of Management, small and medium scale entrepreneurs from Kandy district, and representatives from NEDA (National Enterprise Development Authority).
One of the highlights of the event was a creative drama developed by the students which showcased their talent and creativity. Additionally, the event included an engaging quiz competition, which tested participants’ knowledge of digital marketing trends and practices. Moreover, the discussions and activities highlighted the importance of leveraging digital marketing to foster human connections and drive positive societal changes.
Mercadeo 2024 was a resounding success, providing attendees with a platform to explore the intersection of technology and humanity in the realm of marketing.
