As part of the MGT 1201 – Fundamentals of Social Science subject, 1000 level students from Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, organized a social awareness project on 03rd of January 2025 at Udamankadawara School, Mawanella with the aim of educating and empowering young girls on menstrual health and hygiene.
This one-day initiative addressed the immediate need of menstrual hygiene products while supporting the students’ well-being and uninterrupted school attendance. Additionally, it incorporated a brief awareness session on menstrual hygiene to all students from grade 6 to 11 to promote proper practices and reduce stigma. This awareness session was conducted by Dr. H.M.C.L. Herath, Chief Medical Officer, Health Center, University of Peradeniya.
